At Indian Lakes Elementary school, we are consistently learning new concepts and discovering strengths and skills that we did not know we had. We focus on the positive and set goals for areas that we need to work on. "Can't" is temporary, and simply means we have not mastered "yet."
We welcome each new and returning Thunderbird family as we face new challenges that the school year brings. We will consistently face and adapt as changes are required. The mission of Indian Lakes is to continue to provide opportunities for students to explore and master academic skills while supporting social and emotional needs, as well. There will always be challenges ahead of us, but it is important to recognize that those challenges are there to give us a chance to build character, learn, and grow.
I have been an educator with VBCPS for 10 years. I started teaching Early Childhood Special Education and moved into a Program Compliance Special Education teaching position before moving to Indian Lakes Elementary as an Assistant Principal. I am proud to be serving in the same public school system that I graduated, Floyd E. Kellam High School. I am also a graduate of Old Dominion University. I have a wonderful and supportive family with three sons.
I believe that with a positive attitude, a growth mindset, and good character anyone can achieve great things. I strive to instill those qualities in our young people and to be a positive role model. We are all here to learn together. It is my goal to provide a safe and nurturing educational environment that challenges our students to reach beyond their expectations to become lifelong learners who will make the world a better place. I am excited about the possibilities that this school year will bring and proud to be a Thunderbird.
Sincerely,
Tammy Moore
